How will I know if I am approved for food stamps after I did an?
If you completed your online application, at least three things should happen (if no problems happen with the social service department where you live). First, a case worker may call or write asking for additional documentation or information. A hassle depending on your resources and whether you can get them to social services. Unless specified, send copies. Some social service offices are on the verge on chaos, and they do lose stuff. (Does one even have the money to make copies? A local library might have a cheap copier.) If you deliver application or other stuff in person get a receipt! If all goes well, then you will get a form letter stating you got SNAP, or were denied. If denied ask for a fair hearing. PS to all readers: as a one time recipient and now social worker/advocate, I think it shameful every time there is a cut in SNAP. Is this so no one is dependent on food? Believe it: the vast majority do not want poverty and would love work that really supports them!
